FreshWater Watch

FreshWaterWatch-Final-Logo-set

An Earthwatch research project investigating the health of global freshwater ecosystems on a scale never seen before.

POSEIDOMM teams up with FreshWater Watch, a successful international initiative of citizen science in monitoring the state of freshwater ecosystems. As in POSEIDOMM we want to estimate the input of litter from the Arno River into the Tyrrhenian Sea, in seasonal samplings along the year volunteer citizens and students will take samples to monitor the quality of local tributary rivers of the Arno, and keep track of the presence, type, and quantity of litter found (and remove it afterwards!). Here the map of our estimated citizen-scientists monitoring sites.
